By now you will no doubt have seen the poster design for Razzle Dazzle, our summer concert, and you will be seeing a lot more of that imagery in the lead up to the show and at the show itself. With Razzle Dazzle, the Pinkies are taking a slightly different approach — you’ll hear the same variety of music from classical to pop, and the same tight harmonies as always, but this time we are pulling it all together with a performance themed around the cabarets of Paris, and focusing on icons of LGBT music.
This time too, we wanted a strong graphic and put out a design brief, asking for images which encapsulate these ideas. We were totally overwhelmed by the quality of the submissions from both within and without the choir, and making that final decision was a tough one. After much deliberation we chose Paul’s design because not only was it visually striking, it captured the themes we are trying to convey, and it works well in the different places we are going to use it. This is not to say that the others were not as wonderful, and we thought it would be a shame if no-one ever saw them, so here you will find a gallery of alternative Razzle Dazzle posters of which we are both proud and grateful. In a country where the grape is grown
Ah Greece! Land of Achilles and Patroclus, of Hercules and Abderus, and the backdrop for Shirley Valentine. So pour the ouzo, play the bouzouki and celebrate Pride through the ages with us.
The Pinkies are honoured to be the guests of Athens Gay Pride this year and will be singing in the streets of Athens and on the main Pride stage on the weekend of 3–4 June. A small but ultra–excited contingent will represent the choir in a country we’ve saved till now to visit. Despite the mecca of Mykonos, gay life in Greece can be pretty quiet, so if you fancy an impromptu city trip for a bit of fun and culture, and want to show the Athenians your support, come along! Polishing that dazzle!

Nine weeks to go to Razzle Dazzle, which means nine weeks for us to polish up our vocals and dance moves, and nine weeks for you to get your tickets to this summer’s hotly-anticipated concert! See the Pink Singers as you’ve never seen us before with even tighter harmonies and slicker choreography in a show celebrating LGBT music in all its different forms. Last weekend we had the first round of auditions for the soloist and small group slots, so as well as the full choral spectacle, you’ll get to hear some more intimate torch songs, perfect for our debut performance at the Bloomsbury Theatre.
And remember, your ticket will give you exclusive access to our post-show party too, where you can join the Pinkies for carousing into the night. What are you waiting for? Keep 16 July 2011 free and click on the tickets link at the top of the page to secure your place.
Razzle Dazzle – willkommen!
The Pink Singers’ 2011 summer concert — Razzle Dazzle — draws inspiration from the cabaret nightclubs of Paris and will have the range of styles regular fans have come to love, but with a gay twist: songs from gay songwriters and composers or made famous by gay performers. There was an embarrassment of riches to choose from, such is the huge contribution of members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community to our musical heritage. Amongst those whose work will be featured are Barber, Britten and Tschaikovsky, Leonard Bernstein, KD Lang and Stephen Sondheim. Continue reading “Razzle Dazzle – willkommen!”
A burst of song, an album of photos
The Pinkies’ summer season has started, and the winter is now a distant memory. We had a challenging few months, but it all came together and we put on what was for many one of our best concerts ever. Of course, it helped that we were joined on stage by the always-entertaining Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus, and had such lovely photos taken by the guys at Boy Oh Boy photography. Enjoy the slideshow! Continue reading “A burst of song, an album of photos”
