Join us in Manchester for ‘We go together’

We Go Together
Don’t miss a great opportunity to hear three of the UK’s leading LGBT choirs in one show. The Pink Singers will be joining forces with the Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus and Gay Abandon from Leeds to present ‘We go together’ later this month.
It promises to be a memorable evening. There’ll be a bit of classical, a bit of soul and a bit of Cole Porter: some traditional folk, some musical theatre and one or two old favourites. Continue reading “Join us in Manchester for ‘We go together’”

New Year concert, 'A Burst of Song', 8 January 2011

Chelsea’s Cadogan Hall will again play host to the Pink Singers, following the success of our first concert in this fabulous venue in the summer. Saturday 8 January 2011 is the date for our New Year concert, ‘A Burst of Song’. It starts at 7.30 pm.
You’ll be able to soak in a range of styles and moods, from Gabriel Fauré’s beautiful Cantique de Jean Racine – written when he was just 19 in 1865 – to Billy Joel’s 1983 ballad And so it goes. We are sure you’ll give a warm welcome to our guests, the Manchester Lesbian & Gay Chorus.
Tickets cost from £10 to £30 – with a range of special offers.

  • Groups save £3 on each ticket. Just order five or more full price tickets in one lot. So if you get together with friends and family and buy five tickets, you save £15. A group of eight saves £24.
  • Encore members (friends of Cadogan Hall) save £3 on £22 and £18 tickets.
  • Are you 60 or over, or 16 or under? You can save £3 on every full price ticket.
  • Full-time students (with student ID) and the unemployed can get the same £3 discount.

Discounted tickets must be booked by phone: 020 7730 4500. You can claim only one discount for each ticket. Other tickets can be purchased on line from our box office.
We look forward to seeing many of our long-standing friends and fans – and some new faces too.
Cadogan Hall – 5 Sloane Terrace, SW1X 9DQ – is five minutes’ walk from Sloane Square tube.

A little light music and a big bright future

Exciting times lie ahead for the Pink Singers if the summer 2010 concert is anything to go by.
Having sold out our previous show at the Royal College of Music, we set our sights on a larger and more impressive venue for our summer concert. Aspirations and professionalism were ratcheted up accordingly: new music included the fiendish Eric Whitacre piece With a Lily, whilst our courageous choreography team introduced us to the astonishing – if sometimes elusive – concept of the double bounce.
After many weeks of rehearsal and drilling, we found ourselves entering the imposing Cadogan Hall, with the rosters from Suzanne Vega’s performance the night before still tacked onto our dressing room walls – a heady brush with the big time. Although this was only my third concert with the Pinkies, I sensed unusual excitement and anticipation among my fellow choir members, perhaps a little lubricated by gin. They’re my kinda guys!

Here’s some video of last Saturday’s concert, A Little Light Music, from the Pink Singers official YouTube channel. This time round the sopranos and altos are taking a bit of a break and letting the tenors and basses do all the legwork – literally! They perform a medley of some of the Chiffons’ most famous hits: Sweet Talkin’ Guy, He’s So Fine and One Fine Day.
The vast majority of the Pink Singers have not had any dance training, and quite a few would insist that they have two left feet, but an awful lot of rehearsal, and the patience of our choreographers Oli, Karin and Rachel, seems to have paid off. The tenors even managed the tricky sequence walking backwards! We’re looking forward to next concert’s mass moonwalk, or perhaps not.

Missed the Pinkies in action last week? Interested in seeing the kind of shenanigins we get up to back stage in preparation for our show? Then here’s your chance to relive some of the action of the summer concert. You’ll get a sneak peak at the Pink Singers in our tech rehearsal on stage at Cadogan Hall, and then backstage when we do our traditional roll call of all the Pinkies who have helped the choir run smoothly this season. Mark models the lovely shopping bag they all received by way of thanks.
