Pinkie spotlight – Susan

Susan

My name is Susan.
My section is Tenor.
I joined the Pink Singers in 2001.
I joined the Pink Singers because I wanted to do something other than soothe my Sunday hangover.
My favourite thing about being a Pinkie is seeing how excited and how much fun we all have when we sing together – cheesy I know!.
When I’m not rehearsing you can find me working too much but I’m getting therapy for that!
The song that I would most like us to perform is Boogie Woogie Boy by the Andrews Sisters.

The song in our repertoire which should be laid to rest is
Seasons of Love – sorry to those who like it!

A Night At The Races

Ed
Ed

Prior to this Pinkies event, I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect. The only previous race night I’d attended was a pig racing night in a country pub. The pigs were clockwork. Each was wound up and placed at the starting line of a long table. Still that was some years ago, in rural Dorset – well they have to make their own entertainment in those parts.

Pinkies Theatre Evening

Line
Line

On the cold, dark evening of March the 21st a number of Pinkies descended upon Richmond to watch a play for the bass sectional social event. The play was at the Richmond Theatre facing Richmond Green. The red velvet seats and covered walls were a comforting reminder of the pleasure of theatre going and ice-cream intermissions.

Pinkie spotlight – Fran

Fran

My name is Fran.
My section is Soprano.
I joined the Pink Singers in 1995.
I joined the Pink Singers because it sounded like fun and I love music.
My favourite thing about being a Pinkie is relaxing with friends after rehearsal, and seeing people enjoy themselves at our concerts.
When I’m not rehearsing you can find me in the garden, with a glass of red wine, watching the world go by.
The song that I would most like us to perform is I’ve Lost That Loving Feeling.
The song in our repertoire which should be laid to rest is Seasons of Love… too repetitive… sounds like a cuckoo clock set to music.

Pinkie spotlight – Ritchie

Ritchie

My name is Ritchie Parrott.
My section is bass/middle – I’m bi-sectional don’t you know!.
I joined the Pink Singers in September 1995 and have never looked back.

I joined the Pink Singers because
I wanted to meet other gay men in a less sexual environment than a bar or nightclub. Since joining I’ve met some wonderful men and women, not just in the Pinkies but in many choirs from around the world. Still, I think our choir has some of the funniest and loveliest lezzers you’re likely to meet!
My favourite thing about being a Pinkie is being able to sing my little heart out without someone telling me to be quiet.
When I’m not rehearsing you can find me hanging around Soho. Not just for the obvious boozy attractions but also because I’m lucky enough to attend film preview screenings as part of my job and they’re mostly there.
The song that I would most like us to perform is Edelweiss. We’ve sung it before and I love it. Schmaltzy, with over-the-top soaring harmonies and the audience always recognise it fondly and take it to their hearts.
The song in our repertoire which should be laid to rest is Satin Doll a.k.a. Satan’s Doll. I’d hoped this song had died a long time ago but somehow it’s come back to haunt me.
